Privacy policy

Cookloom is built to need as little of your data as possible. This page describes, in plain language, exactly what we collect and what we don't.
Cookies: your choice
We ask before we store anything. The first time you visit, a banner offers two equally easy options, and nothing non-essential is written to your device until you pick one. We never use advertising or ad-tech trackers, whatever you choose.
- If you accept: our analytics provider sets cookies (and uses local storage) so we can recognise a returning visitor, understand how people move through the site over time, and record sessions — see below.
- If you decline (or simply don't answer): we switch to a cookieless mode that stores nothing that identifies you on your device — no cookies, no ID — and turns session recording off. We still count the visit, but instead of an identifier on your device, our analytics provider derives a temporary identifier on its own servers by hashing your IP address and browser user-agent together with a secret that rotates every day. Because that secret changes daily, the identifier cannot be used to recognise you tomorrow, or to link you across other sites.
What we store either way is your answer itself, so we don't ask on every page: acookloom_consent entry in local storage holding only your choice, a version number and the date you made it, plus two entries our analytics provider keeps alongside it — one recording that analytics cookies are switched off, and one that is literally empty until you accept. None of them contains an identifier or anything about your browsing, and storing your own preference is considered strictly necessary.
Changed your mind? Withdrawing is as easy as consenting:. Declining afterwards also clears the cookies already set.
Analytics
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to understand which articles are read, roughly where traffic comes from, what devices are used, and which links and buttons people actually interact with. It respects your browser's "Do Not Track" setting in every mode. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Session recording
Only if you accept cookies, PostHog records a replay of your visit — the pages, scrolling, clicks and mouse movement — which we watch back to find layout problems and things that confuse people. Two limits are worth stating plainly:all form inputs are masked, so what you type is never captured, and recording is switched off the moment you decline. If you would rather not be recorded at all, decline the cookies and nothing is recorded.
Affiliate links
Some links on Cookloom are affiliate links (always disclosed). When you click one, you leave our site, and the retailer — for example, Amazon — may set cookies ontheir site under their privacy policy so that purchases can be attributed. We receive aggregate commission reports; we do not receive your identity, address, or payment details.
Newsletter
When our newsletter launches, subscribing will require your email address, stored with our email provider and used only to send you the newsletter. Every email will include a one-click unsubscribe. We never sell or share subscriber lists.
Hosting & server logs
Cookloom is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually all hosting providers, Vercel processes standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to serve and secure the site, perVercel's privacy policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we intentionally hold almost nothing about you, most requests are simple: contact us and we'll help.
