How we test

Every Cookloom verdict tells you exactly what it's based on. That's the whole method: no invented testing, no borrowed authority, no pretending. Here is how our recommendations are actually produced.

Where we are honest about being new

Cookloom launched in 2026, and building a test kitchen takes time. Right now, most of our gear verdicts are research-based: we synthesize the published results of independent labs that buy and test at scale — Consumer Reports, RTINGS, America's Test Kitchen, Serious Eats, and others — and cross-check every finalist against thousands of aggregated owner reports for the things labs miss: durability failures, warranty experiences, cleaning drudgery. Every source is named, every claim traceable. When guides rely on outside evidence, they say so in the opening — not in a footnote.

What "hands-on tested" will mean here

As units come through the Cookloom kitchen, hands-on verdicts get layered onto the research — and clearly labeled as ours. Our hands-on protocol mirrors what the best labs do, in a real home kitchen: the same benchmark dishes across competing units, capacity measured against the marketing claims, cleanup done by hand and counted in minutes, noise and heat noted in a real room, and long-term wear tracked over months of actual cooking. Where our hands-on findings contradict the published record, the pick changes — and we explain why.

What we weight

• Cooking evenness — the job itself, before any feature matters.
• Usable capacity vs. claimed — marketing quarts are not real quarts.
• Cleanup burden — the thing that decides whether gear keeps getting used.
• Controls and noise — daily-life friction the spec sheet hides.
• Durability and warranty — owner reports over months, not first impressions.

We deliberately ignore preset counts, companion apps, and manufacturers' own performance claims unless independently verified.

Independence

Recommendations are never sold. Affiliate commissions don't influence rankings — the evidence is assembled before any link is added. If a brand provides a sample unit, the review says so. The full standard lives in oureditorial policy.

Living documents

Guides show their last-updated date and get revisited as products change, go out of stock, or get beaten. If you own gear we cover and your experience contradicts ours, we genuinely want to know — it shapes the next update.
